Biography Norbert Rosing
I have been taking photographs since the 1970s while deepening my knowledge about photography through learning by doing. At the beginning of the 1980s the first publications followed. Towards the end of the 1980s I began with my lifetime project “In the Realm of the Polar Bears”, which is continued to the present day and out of which several magazine articles and photo books resulted.
Backyard photography became another big photographic focus of mine. I have been travelling Germany for over 30 years and I document and take photos of permanence (large-scale protected areas) and change (energy revolution) in the German landscapes and what remains of them.
Out of the focus on Germany the publication of several photo books resulted, one of them the bestseller “Wildes Deutschland” [Wild Germany]. Thus far five images from this series were utilised as motifs for postage stamps.
For the last nine years I have been part of the organisation team of the Kur- &Tourismus GmbH Zingst, which organises the environmental photo festival HORIZONTE. I was patron of the festival for three years and I now organize the presentations in the Multivisionshalle in Zingst.
By now the festival belongs to the biggest of its kind in Europe and presents world-renowned photographers and artists.
My newest work “UP HERE” was published in September 2016 by the Knesebeck Verlag, Munich. It contains the best photographs from the Artic from the years 1988 -2016.
